Rugby, considered a man’s game has been gaining popularity amongst the women in Kashmir for a while. After years of practising and training, the Jammu and Kashmir girls rugby team bagged gold at the National Snow Rugby Championships held at Gulmarg! 11 years since the first competitive game in 2006, the female rugby players have won laurels at national levels. For these women, rugby is all about aggression and using techniques to tackle, push, pull and scrum the opponent. Competitive rugby in Jammu and Kashmir is organized through different events and for different age groups. Lack of infrastructure is a bit of a handicap, but with support pooling in from other sports communities, these star players have a ground to practise till the construction of their own ground is complete.
